If you are a British rider living at home or abroad, the path to a Championship title might be closer than you think. The British Dressage (BD) Online Championships, hosted by Dressage Anywhere, offer a prestigious platform to showcase your skills from your own arena.
Whether you are aiming for your first Intro championship or stepping up to Advanced Medium, here is everything you need to know to secure your spot in the October finals.
This specific series is a celebration of British talent, open exclusively to:
British Nationals
British Expatriates living overseas.
To earn your place at the final, you and your horse must prove your consistency. The requirements are straightforward:
The Magic Number: You must achieve three scores of 60% or above at each level (max two levels).
The Qualifying Window: Scores must be gained between 1 January and 31 August.
Look for the 'Q': Only monthly classes marked with a Q count towards your qualification.
Note on Eligibility: This series focuses on standard levels. If you compete in Veteran Horse, Ex-Racehorse, Freestyle to Music, or RDA classes, please look for their respective standalone championships, as those scores do not count toward this series.
Flexibility is key in dressage, and the Online Champs reflect that. You are welcome to compete and qualify at different levels throughout the season. However, when it comes to the grand finale in October, a combination can only qualify and compete in a maximum of two levels/classes.
A word for previous winners: To keep the competition fair and encourage progression, horse and rider combinations who have previously won a Championship are restricted from entering the same level again. This applies to all levels up to, but not including, Medium.
Keep an eye on your notifications! Combinations who have secured their three scores will be notified online starting over the summer.
To formalise your entry for the October final:
Wait for the Schedule: The Championship schedule will be available in September.
Register with BD: Riders must register via the British Dressage booking system (£10.00 for non-BD members).
Entry Fee: Standard Dressage Anywhere entry fees apply.
Please note: A minimum of three qualified combinations is required for any specific level to run as a Championship Class.
Beyond the pride of competing in a final, British Dressage will be supplying prizes in kind for successful competitors. It is a fantastic opportunity to see how you fair against the best British riders across the globe.
